A perfectly packed diaper bag ensures that you will be ready for anything while away from home. You never know what your little bundle of joy might throw at you. Anything is possible- so be prepared with these diaper bag essentials!
Your Diaper Bag Essentials
Changing Pad- You do not want your precious little one on a dirty changing station! Who knows the last time that thing was cleaned?! Pick up a changing pad that has a cushioned head rest so that your baby will be comfortable on the hard surface of the changing station.
Diapers- This might seem like a given, but always double check that you have diapers stocked in your bag! There is nothing worse than winning the fight to get your baby undressed & positioned on a changing station only to realize that you are out of diapers! My husband told me that his worst fear is having to change a dirty diaper while out and about, only to find that we do not have any diapers on us. That is a pretty scary thought- I think I will go add a couple dozen more diapers to our bag.
Wipes- Same deal as the diapers, always make sure you have plenty of wipes. If the pack is running low, go ahead and bring a new pack with you. You never know what kind of storm is headed your way. Okay… you know what kind 🙂
Diaper Cream- When Levi was a few days old we noticed his bottom was starting to get irritated and tried a handful of different products, but none seemed to help. We have a nurse practitioner in the family and asked him what he recommended. He told us to try Triple Paste so we ran out that evening to pick some up. The Triple Paste did the trick and we have not had any diaper rash issues since we started using Triple Paste. We will never use anything else!
Stroller hook- A hook for your diaper bag that clips onto your stroller saves precious space in the stroller basket! Before I found these hooks I was drowning my baby in groceries every time we went shopping. Now that we hang the diaper bag on the hook there is plenty of room in the bottom of the stroller for groceries & my baby isn’t on the verge of disappearing under a pizza box.
Change of clothes- Sometimes bad things happen to good people. Blow outs are real- and when it happens, you need to be prepared. Bring your baby a complete change of clothes…and don’t forget socks! I also like to keep an extra shirt for myself in the trunk of the car just in case my baby shares the love with me.
High chair/shopping cart cover- A plush high chair & shopping cart cover will keep your baby comfortable and protect them from the germs of millions of other children who have come before yours. We love that our cover provides a soft surface over the hard wooden high chairs that are provided in restaurants. We don’t have to worry about our baby getting overly excited about a bread basket and hitting his head on the high chair. Who am I kidding- I would be the one getting overly excited about a bread basket!
Burp cloths- Pack a couple of burp cloths to clean up spit up. I love the burp cloths that double as a supersized bib. If your child is like mine and manages to get food in every place possible you will love the supersized bib!
Bottles & baby food- Be sure to pack your bottles & food for your time away from home.
Entertaining toys- It’s always a good idea to have a few toys to entertain & distract your little one in the car or while eating out. We always pack a couple of teething toys because our little guy wants something in his mouth at all times!
